Kangaroos are probably the most famous animals of Australia. I was told that there are more than 60 different kangaroo species. From small rock wallabies to the big red kangaroos.
If you’re traveling through Australia you’ll for sure see a wild kangaroo. But if you also want to feed and touch them, you could just visit one of many parks like “Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary”, Dreamworld and many more.
Everyone loves Koala Bears! They are really adorable but also very hard to spot in the nature. Not moving very much, sleeping most of the time and climbing up high eucalyptus trees.
You can hug Koalas in a lot of places like the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary but if you want to see a wild Koala Bear in the nature, you have very good chances on Magnetic Island at the Australian East Coast.
In Australia live many different kinds of birds. Big ones like Emu’s and a lot of smaller ones. If you’re fascinated by birds and visiting Alice Springs, make sure you stay at Uwe Pathdorf B&B. On his nature based property are living more than 90 different native bird species.
Crocodiles, Snakes, Sea turtles, Lizards – More than 860 species of reptile are living in Australia. Not all of them are dangerous but of course there are also very poisonous ones. If you plan a longer trip to Australia, it is highly recommended to inform yourself about what to do when facing one of those animals. At least you should maybe visit a local reptile centre in Australia where you can see a lot of those reptiles and learn how to deal with them.
