“In Response to: Arrival in Alice Springs“
During my time in Alice Springs I stayed at Uwe Pathdorf Bed & Breakfast. In this Blog-Post I want to give you a review of how I liked it and if I’d recommend it.
Uwe Pathdorf Bed & Breakfast in Alice Springs is situated about 5-10minutes by car from the city center. Therefore it is really calm, safe and enjoyable with a beautiful garden!
The owner “Uwe” is a super-friendly german guy that’s been living in Australia for several years.
– His service is excellent!
When I arrived in Alice Springs I hadn’t booked anything else than the B&B. Uwe picked me up at the Airport, advised me about good Outback-tours I could make and booked them for me. He arranged everything, so I just enjoyed the great tour (read: Outback Camping-Tour)!
As the B&B is a few minutes by car away from the city center, it’s not really good to walk there. A cab costs about 24AUD one way. Uwe drove me for half that price – 12AUD one way. And if I wanted to get picked up somewhere, I just gave him a call and he picked me up about 5-10minutes later.
By the way, Uwe used to be a tour-guide so if you’ve any questions about the Australian Outback, just ask him!
The rooms are pretty small but have everything you need. A comfortable Bed with a lot of plankets (yes – I needed them during my stay as it was winter), a heater, air conditioner, desk, TV, wardrobe, mirror, towels etc. The rooms I booked (I checked out and later back in) had a shared-bathroom, but only with one other person so that was really easy. Also there was a bathing-tub in the bathroom which I enjoyed a lot after an exhausting walk! But he has also other rooms available, just have a look at his website.
For Breakfast you could choose between Coffee/Tea/Juice, Toasts/Buns/Cake, Salami/Ham/Cheese, Jam/Peanut Butter/Veggiemite/…/, Joghurt/Fruits/…/. As you may notice, there’s everything to make your start into the new day to your complete satisfaction. The only thing I was missing, were scrambled eggs. But I’m sure if I’d have asked Uwe, he would of cooked some for the next morning.
Uwe loves nature and therefore built a beautiful environment-protecting-garden himself. It took him years to set everything like it is right now and it’s not finished yet (up to now he planted already more than 700 plants, bushes and trees). More than 90 different bird-species came to live in his garden. And he is even eventually going to open his garden as an botanical garden at the end of this year. And trust me it is really beautiful, but just have a look at the pictures yourself! – On my pictures you can hardly see any flowers but that’s just cause it was winter during my stay.
While watching the pictures, keep in mind that this is Central Australia which is known for it’s huge red desert. So it’s really amazing what he made out of that.
His B&B is completely solar-powered to make it really eco-friendly. If you’re looking for a nice stay during your time in Alice Springs, I can highly recommend this Bed&Breakfast. If you have a car it’s perfect. If not, it is also alright as Uwe will drive you whereever you want to. And Uwe will definetly do everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible, so just enjoy your holidays! For prices and availability, please have a look at his website.
He has a couple more projects he wants to realize to develop his property into a pure nature-sanctuary. Just have a look at his website, it’s really worth it: www.pathdorf.com
TIP: Also check booking.com as you often find cheaper rates on this website.
